This looks like an interesting action/thriller from France. Could it get political? I hope so.
For a non-Hollywood blockbuster film it doesn't get much more high concept. What happens when a prison guard's first day on the job sees him stranded on the inside with the rioting prisoners? Well it looks like the prison guard has to go undercover to save his own ass. But where will his sympathies lie by the end of the film?
It reminds me of the recent The Horde (Yannick Dahan, Benjamin Rocher, 2009), another French film where cops and crooks had to team up. Only in that film it was to survive in an appartment block full of the undead.
Anyway it looks like Hollywood are sniffing round a remake of Cell 211 so I thought I'd give the original a shout out as it's finally getting a UK DVD release in January 2012.
Has anyone seen this yet?
